Overlay Contact Buttons

Overlay contact buttons pair a precious-metal contact face with an economical copper carrier through diffusion bonding. By placing a thicker-than-usual silver alloy (AgCdO, Fine Ag or AgCuNi) only where switching duty demands it, you get long electrical life without paying for solid silver across the whole part. The copper side can be finished with serrations, texture or a pre-applied brazing layer to suit your assembly process. For older designs that still rely on solid-silver brazed tips, switching to overlay buttons can sharply cut silver content — and cost — while retaining comparable switching performance and heat dissipation.
